How to Match
1. Use the Chart (Left) to set your ideal course content mix (e.g. 50% Performance).
2. Drag Metrics (Right) to prioritise different metrics (e.g. Student Satisfaction).
Under the Hood
Content Score: Sums the absolute difference between your chosen modules and the university's modules for each category (e.g. Performance, Theory). A squared formula, (1 - difference)², is used to preference courses that closely match. A course that's 50% different gets a score of 25, while one that's 10% different scores 81.
Metric Score: All university data is normalised for consistency (League Tables, Student Satisfaction etc.) to a 0-100 scale. Chosen metric priorities are then weighted, with the top slot having an 8x greater impact than the bottom slot (weights: 40, 30, 15, 10, 5). The final score is a weighted average based on your selections.
Final Balance: The slider at the top blends these two scores to simulate the balance between content and metrics that students might make when selecting degrees.
